John & Karen Herr

“Fun in Motion”

John and Karen have been Round Dancing since 1985 and 1975 respectively, and have been teaching since 1987.  They currently run a year-round set of classes and cue for four clubs in the Denver area, teaching beginners thru VI.  They emphasize good body-mechanics while having lots of fun.

Married in 1988, John & Karen have 5 children, 2 daughters-in-law and 11 grandchildren ranging in age from 6 to 23 years.  John has retired from software development after 40 years and Karen has retired from teaching Kindergarten after 35 years.  They are very active in their community and enjoy sports and watching the Denver Broncos.

John and Karen are very active in Roundalab, the Denver Callers and Cuers Association and the Colorado Round Dance Association, holding many positions on boards and committees.  They were awarded the Maestro Award in 2017.  They are currently one of five Certified Clinicians for Roundalab Mini-Labs, a 20-hour curriculum.  They also run a 40-hour curriculum, Traveling Round Dance Leaders College.

The take great pleasure teaching non-dancers how to dance in a very short time. For both John and Karen, beginning lessons continue to be their favorites.  Watching new dancers learn is an amazing and rewarding experience.
